Alasdair Gold has played down Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the January transfer window on his own Youtube channel

Vlahovic to Tottenham?

Vlahovic has been linked with Tottenham ever since the summer, when they pressed to sign him from Fiorentina.

Tottenham failed to get a deal done at that stage and it seems that they could live to regret that now.

Spurs are still interested in landing the red-hot £70 million forward, who currently leads Serie A’s goalscoring charts.

However, Vlahovic apparently isn’t particularly keen on leaving Fiorentina midway through the season.

That makes Tottenham’s task of landing him even more difficult, and it was hardly a simple one in the first place.

Fiorentina are desperate to keep their star man, although doing so is becoming more and more difficult for them as he only has 18 months remaining on his contract.

Fiorentina may have to accept a bid soon, rather than losing him on a free transfer, but Gold fears that Vlahovic may have better options than Tottenham now.

“From my understanding there seems to be a reluctance from him to leave midway through the season,” he said.

“He wants to leave Fiorentina with a full season of what he can do and he’s already on 18 goals! I can kind of understand that logic.

“You’re then kind of looking towards the summer and my gut feeling, which I hope is wrong, is that Tottenham maybe missed their chance.”

Disappointing news?

If Vlahovic was brought to Spurs there is no doubting that he could be a hugely exciting addition to their squad.

The Serbian’s potential partnership with Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane up-front looks highly exciting.

But the transfer itself would not be an inexpensive one and Tottenham may not have the budget to pull it off, especially with Antonio Conte seemingly wanting to strengthen in other areas of his squad too.
