Arsenal are seemingly planning to back Mikel Arteta with new signings as they plan to splash more than £100million.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking to Give Me Sport about Arsenal’s plans.

Jones claims that Arsenal will spend more than £100million on new signings this summer.

However, just how far they can go will depend on their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Arsenal want to sign Rice for around £70million but West Ham want to start talks at £90million.

Of course, Rice costing the upper end of West Ham’s valuation will greatly impact Arsenal’s spending elsewhere.

Still, with Champions League football returning to Arsenal, the Gunners are ready to invest in Arteta’s squad.

A new midfielder or two will be wanted whilst a right back and left back are likely to be on the wish list depending on departures.

Who can Mikel Arteta let go?

Arsenal could of course bolster their transfer kitty by offloading a few players.

Left back Nuno Tavares surely has no future at Arsenal after a mixed loan spell at Marseille.

Kieran Tierney – another left back – is wanted by Newcastle United and could rake in big cash.

Folarin Balogun will be worth huge money if Arsenal sell.

The striker has been in red-hot form on loan at Reims and, with an Arsenal first-team role hard to come by, the Gunners could cash in.

Nicolas Pepe has also been out on loan and surely won’t have a future under Arteta, but the Gunners will have to take a huge loss on the winger.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be into the final year of his contract and doesn’t have a role to play whilst Pablo Mari may also be available.

Offloading all of those players would clear the decks and bring in crucial funds for Arsenal to invest in even more quality.
