Tottenham Hotspur are showing a strong interest in signing Emiliano Martinez as he plans to leave Aston Villa.
Spurs are pushing harder than Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Emiliano Martinez, according to Gaston Edul.
It’s stated that Martinez’s ‘idea’ is to leave Aston Villa this summer and move on to the next step in his career.
Edul notes that there is no release clause in Martinez’s Villa deal, so this could end up being an expensive deal.
Villa aren’t exactly under any pressure to sell, especially as it seems like they’re gearing up to splash the cash themselves this summer.
Martinez only signed a new contract in 2022, tying himself to Villa until 2027.
Tottenham – or any other club – will now have to come up with a major offer to tempt Villa into selling.
Martinez is no stranger to North London having previously been on the books at Arsenal.
Spurs may not hope to lure him back to the capital and could make him their top choice to replace Hugo Lloris.

It now feels like Martinez believes that World Cup win should be the platform for him to go on to bigger and better things.

Tottenham are a mess right now though with no manager and no director football. They won’t have Champions League football next season either.
Tottenham just don’t feel like a huge step-up from Villa right now, especially whilst the identity of their new manager is still unknown.
Add in that Villa are making huge strides under Unai Emery and look set to bring in major signings this summer and staying at Villa Park shouldn’t be out of the question.
