Liverpool may have up to five signings in mind for the summer as they look to back Jurgen Klopp with new additions.
That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking to Give Me Sport about Liverpool’s transfer plans.
Jones claims that Liverpool know Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister isn’t going to come cheap and that they will face competition for him.
Jones adds that his understanding is that Liverpool are planning four or five signings for the summer window.
World Cup winner Mac Allister is thought to be one of the key targets but Liverpool will have their eyes on a number of possible targets.

What positions will Liverpool look to strengthen?
The priority has to be midfielders – and the emphasis there is on the plural.
Liverpool were interested in Jude Bellingham but seem to now believe that spending their whole budget on one player probably isn’t the best idea.
The Reds need to bring two or maybe even three midfielders this summer to completely revamp Jurgen Klopp’s engine room.
That Bellingham money can go towards a number of signings with Liverpool possibly seeking an anchor man to compete with Fabinho, a box-to-box player in the mould of Bellingham and a technical creator like Mac Allister.
Roberto Firmino may be leaving but an attacker is unlikely to be a top priority.
Liverpool already have Mohamed Salad, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez in the final third.
That’s a strong set of attackers and Liverpool should feel comfortable moving forward with them.
Maybe another right back will be wanted to challenge Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the Reds did sign Calvin Ramsay last summer.
A centre back will be wanted if Joe Gomez or Joel Matip move on whilst the same goes for a new goalkeeper if Caoimhin Kelleher leaves.
There is plenty of work to be done for Liverpool this summer and Klopp will hope to have it done sooner rather than later.
