Everton have opened talks to sign veteran wide man Ashley Young on a free transfer after leaving Aston Villa.
Ashley Young could play in the Premier League again next season with Everton now in talks to snap him up.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers, who claims that Everton have held discussions to sign Young.
Myers adds that nothing is decided just yet but talks are ongoing between Young and Everton.
Young has allegedly rejected from Championship and even Premier League clubs, with Everton now favourites to secure a deal.
Aston Villa confirmed at the end of May that Young would be leaving the club with his contract coming to an end.
The 37-year-old rejoined Villa from Inter Milan back in 2021 and started 23 Premier League games last season.
Villa are seemingly accelerating under Unai Emery and may now feel that they can get better players than Young after qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
That means Young has been let go and Everton could now pounce with a deal for the former England international.
Everton boss Sean Dyche could finally sign Ashley Young
This may not inspire many Everton fans given that Young is edging closer to 40.
Young does though have bags of experience and has been considered as a positive influence with pretty much every club in his career.
Young also offers great versatility, operating as a full back or winger on either side; Steven Gerrard even utilised him in an attacking midfield role at times with Villa.
Everton may now see Young as a valuable presence as they seek to finally end their battles with relegation.

Above all though, this is a signing that Sean Dyche would seemingly love to make.
Dyche served as Watford captain when Young broke through with the Hornets during the 2004-05 season.
Dyche then attempted to use that history to bring Young to Burnley in 2021, opening talks over a deal before Villa swooped in.
Young may well be tempted to reunite with Dyche with Everton seemingly making progress on a potential move.
