Kaboul is surplus to requirements at Watford and Celtic need a centre-back.

Celtic’s hunt for a centre-back is seeing the Scottish champions being linked with central defenders from down south, in Scotland and indeed in different European countries. The deadline is creeping closer.
The Hoops have been linked with Wolfsburg stopper Jeffrey Bruma, Aberdeen star Scott McKenna as well as missing out on former Celtic star Jason Denayer – who has joined Lyon from Manchester City.
But a Premier League centre-back – reportedly surplus to requirements and expected to be on the move before August 31 – would be ideal for Celtic, especially their younger centre-backs Kristoffer Ajer and Jack Hendry.
French outlet France Football claimed that Watford powerhouse Younes Kaboul is on his way to Ligue 1 side Nantes, after becoming unneeded at Vicarage Road. But Celtic must rival the top-tier outfit.
But Brendan Rodgers should seriously consider a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur defender, as the Hoops require an older head to bring the best out of Celtic’s younger defenders.
It is something Rodgers tried to do in the form of Marvin Compper, but the German is up there with Celtic’s worst ever signings after featuring just once since his move to Scotland in January of this year.

Kaboul, 32, has shown at Watford that he still has energy left in the legs, and his 198 appearances in the Premier League sees the Frenchman possess the kind of expertise that will transform Ajer and Hendry.
Indeed, Hendry and Ajer are still particularly young and need a player that can teach them on the pitch, as much as off of it. Kaboul can be that man.
With his contract ending at the end of the season, Kaboul would be available on the cheap and Rodgers must consider landing the defender.
