West Ham United are reportedly looking to land Porto striker Moussa Marega.

Cheikhou Kouyate of Senegal applauds fans after the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group H match between Japan and Senegal at Ekaterinburg Arena on June 24, 2018 in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

West Ham United have may have brought in seven new signings this summer, but they aren’t done just yet as a new striker appears to be on Manuel Pellegrini’s radar.

The Hammers have landed Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson – but a striker hasn’t been brought in.

Marko Arnautovic will start the season as West Ham’s first choice, but Andy Carroll is injured, Javier Hernandez had a mixed first season and Jordan Hugill appears to be surplus to requirements.

The Mirror now report that West Ham are keen to land Moussa Marega from Porto, and are looking to use Cheikhou Kouyate in a deal to land the front man before the transfer deadline.

Such a deal would be perfect for the Hammers. Starting with Marega, the 27-year-old striker hit 23 goals in all competitions last season, starring as Porto won the Portuguese title again, returning to the Champions League.

Lauded for his pace, power and finishing, Marega would bring a new dimension to the West Ham attack, and offer the perfect foil for Arnautovic, with the pair potentially perfect if Pellegrini decides to play two up front as he did early on at Manchester City.

With Kouyate, the 28-year-old midfielder had a poor season last term and appears to be being edged out of the West Ham midfield, with Sam Allardyce’s 2014 signing from Anderlecht potentially at the end of the road with the Hammers.

Offloading a midfielder seemingly unwanted under Pellegrini to bring down the cost of a goalscoring sensation is just what the Hammers need right now, and it would be quite the coup if West Ham can pull this reported deal off.
