The Express and Star have described Nelson Semedo’s £27.5 million move to Wolves as imminent, and the Barcelona right-back has now taken to his Instagram to effectively confirm the news.

The ex-Benfica star’s post translates to: ‘Thank you very much Barcelona for giving me the opportunity to live the dream of wearing this shirt, of playing in Camp Nou, of learning and enjoying the best in the world.

‘Thank you for making me grow as a player and as a person. They were three wonderful years that I will never forget.

‘Thank my colleagues, staff, fans and all the people who helped me since I arrived until today. I wish you the best luck in the world. Eternally gratifying. Visit Barça!’

Semedo is expected to plug arguably the most glaring hole in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad – the right-back position.

Following the sale of Matt Doherty to Tottenham, Wolves have been without a senior right-back, playing Adama Traore in that department so far this term.

The Portugal international will surely fit in with ease, given the vast Portuguese contingent currently playing at Molineux.

At 26 years of age, Semedo will be an excellent signing for the Europa League quarter-finalists as they look to build on last season’s achievements.

The Express and Star report that an announcement is expected on Wednesday, although the full-back has practically confirmed the news himself with the Instagram message.

Having said that, he has a tough job on his hands to replace Doherty.

The Irishman scored seven goals in all competitions last season, while also grabbing five assists – he was a superb attacking outlet.

However, given Semedo’s experience at the top of the game, he will surely be competent enough to deliver and thrive under Nuno’s tutelage.
