Leeds United didn’t bring in another defender over the summer.

Leeds United capped off their summer transfer business by landing playmaker Izzy Brown from Chelsea last week, giving manager Marcelo Bielsa exactly what he wanted.
The Whites worked hard over the summer to bring in Jamal Blackman, Barry Douglas, Lewis Baker, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford, but tied up on more deal with Brown.
That now gives Bielsa two players for every position in his fluid 4-1-4-1 system, with Leeds seemingly gearing up for a shot at promotion under the Argentinian.
However, Leeds fans have been a little concerned about one area of the pitch, as centre back isn’t the strongest position for the Whites, with full back Gaetano Berardi filling in and now injured, whilst Conor Shaughnessy struggled against Preston in the Carabao Cup last week.
With the transfer window closed, Leeds can only consider free agents if they want a centre back, and one option would be Florentin Pogba – the brother of Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
Back in 2015, But Football Club in France reported that Bielsa was considering a move to lure Pogba to Marseille from Saint-Etienne, though concerns about his pace to play in a back three ultimately led to no move materialising.

Pogba, 28, now finds himself as a free agent having left Turkish side Genclerbirligi this summer following an on-pitch row with teammates, and whilst he has been linked with Sivasspor, the defender remains unsigned.
Bielsa’s concerns about Pogba’s pace may not be quite so damning now he’s playing a four-man defence, and as a free agent, he represents one of the better options for Leeds in defence, and Bielsa should consider him once again, three years on, if the Whites do feel that they need a defender after all.
