Wolverhampton Wanderers should consider making a summer swoop for the Arsenal ace.
Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly keen on bolstering his defensive options this summer, with the addition of an established right-back and a centre-back featuring highly on his wish-list.
He could kill two birds with one stone, however, by bringing Arsenal’s versatile defender Calum Chambers to Molineux this summer.
According to the Times, the 23-year-old is available for around £22 million this summer, and whilst that seems to be fairly extortionate at first glance, it actually represents decent value in today’s day and age.
Chambers joined the Gunners in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £16 million, but his career seems to have stagnated at the Emirates.
That is not to say that he isn’t a top class player, though, and he still has a lot to offer at the very highest level.
The Arsenal man is strong in the air, and is not afraid to mix things up physically.
Perhaps most importantly, though, he is equally as comfortable playing in either the right-back or centre-back positions, and that could prove to be vital to Wolves upon their return to the Premier League.
Despite his tender years, Chambers is fairly experienced in playing in the top flight, and that would be a major plus for Nuno’s side, what with their current lack of Premier League know-how.
Wolves will not have things all their own way, however, with Fulham reportedly keen on signing the Gunners defender, according to Sky Sports.
Nuno is currently overseeing a wonderfully exciting project at Molineux, however, and that might just be enough to tempt Chambers into a switch to the Black Country.
