Liverpool should consider a summer swoop for the Juventus defender.

Despite spending big already this summer, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp still has a lot of work to do, if he is to guide his side to their first league title since 1990.
One particular area of the Reds squad that still needs improvement is their central defensive department, and the addition of an established centre-back to partner Virgil van Dijk will surely feature highly on Klopp’s wish-list.
With this in mind, the German should consider a move for Juventus ace Medhi Benatia, who could be available for as little as €23 million (£20.1 million) this summer, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 31-year-old joined Juve from Bayern Munich initially on loan in the summer of 2016, before making his switch a permanent one last year, and he has gone on to cement his reputation as one of the continent’s finest defenders.
Benatia is an old school defender and places the emphasis on clearing his lines, rather than playing out from the back.
Standing at 6ft 1in tall, the Moroccan is strong in the air, and possesses a wonderful sense of position as well as being an expert reader of the game – qualities that more than make up for his lack of pace.

The Juve ace would be the ideal centre-back partner for Van Dijk, and his arrival at Liverpool would undoubtedly make them a far more solid unit defensively.
In today’s day and age, £20.1 million for a player with Benatia’s quality represents fantastic value, and the Reds cannot afford to miss out on the opportunity to bring him to Anfield this summer.
