According to the Times, Arsenal are interested in signing Lille forward Nicolas Pépé in January, as Unai Emery looks to bolster his wide attacking ranks at the Emirates.

There could be trouble for the Gunners, however, with French publication Infofoot reporting that Manchester City have joined the race to sign the £27 million rated ace.

Arsenal must do everything they can to win the race for the 23-year-old’s signature, however, and if they are successful in their pursuit, Emery could very well have one of the most exciting attacking line-ups in world football at his disposal.

Pepe is one of the most highly regarded forwards in Europe. The Ivory Coast international can play anywhere along the front-line, but he is most comfortable when deployed int he right wing role.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left, and Alexandre Lacazette through the middle, Pepe on the right hand flank would be the icing on the cake for Arsenal.

The Gunners have sometimes lacked any kind of real width this season, so the Lille ace might just be the key ingredient that they have lacked.

He possesses pace in abundance, and lined up along side Auba and Laca, Arsenal really would be a fearsome prospect.

Pepe has been on fire for his club this season, racking up an impressive 11 goals and seven assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances.

That kind of attacking output would surely make Arsenal one of the most devastating sides in Europe, and Emery must do everything within his power to bring the Ivorian to the Emirates in January.
