Valencia’s Rodrigo may well start for Spain at the World Cup this summer.

The latest international break is halfway done, and managers will have plenty to think about head of the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Some of the notable results from Friday night saw England beat the Netherlands 1-0, Argentina saw off Italy with a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium, whilst France squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Colombia.
In the heavyweight friendly clash, Germany took on Spain in Dusseldorf, and Thomas Muller rescued a 1-1 draw for Joachim Low’s side, cancelling out Rodrigo’s opener.

It may have gone somewhat under the radar, but striker Rodrigo – formerly of Bolton Wanderers – appears to be seizing his chance to lead the line for Spain at this summer’s World Cup.
Marca report that Rodrigo is now ahead of Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata in the pecking order for Julen Lopetegui’s side, and looks set to start in Russia.
The 27-year-old has been enjoying the finest season of his career to date, scoring 16 goals in 34 games for Valencia this term, whilst attracting major interest.

Calciomercato recently reported that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing the versatile forward at a price of around €40million (£35million), having been blown away by his displays this summer.
Rodrigo’s quality will be there for all to see if he does start for Spain this summer, and Valencia may see an opportunity to ramp up his asking price, given that his release clause stands at £105million.
