Reported Wolverhampton Wanderers target Faouzi Ghoulam could find himself stuck at Napoli due to a £60,000-a-week contract which is putting off potential suitors, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Fortunately for the Algeria international, he has football’s very own ‘fixer’ in his corner.

Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes is a transfer market master and, if anyone can find a new home for Ghoulam, it is him.

And, you won’t be surprised to learn that the 29-year-old is already being linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Due to his close relationship with Wolves’ Chinese owners, a huge number of Mendes-owned players have passed through the doors of Molineux in the last four years and Ghoulam could follow in the footsteps of Ruben Neves, Rui Patricio, Pedro Neto and more.

Calciomercato reported earlier this week that Mendes is trying to convince Wolves to offer the former St Etienne left-back a new start at Molineux.

Ghoulam can take some hope from the fact that Jonny Otto, Nuno’s first-choice on the left-hand side, looks set for a couple of months on the sidelines with injury.

But it remains to be seen whether Wolves are willing to take over the £60,000-a-week contract which has left Ghoulam in limbo.

According to Spotrac, only two players in Nuno’s tight-knit squad (Patricio and Joao Moutinho) currently earn more than £60,000-a-week.

With just three Serie A starts to his name in 2019/20, Ghoulam has slipped behind Mario Rui in the pecking order at Napoli, and things will get even worse for him if Sergio Reguilon arrives from Real Madrid.
