Greece international Samaris, whose Benfica contract was set to expire in the summer, had been linked with West Ham and Wolves.

Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris has signed a new contract at the Primeira Liga club, dealing a blow to a number of reported Premier League suitors including West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Greece international, who was set to be a free agent this summer, extended his contract with the Portuguese title hopefuls until 2023 on Tuesday, as announced by the club’s Twitter feed.
Samaris had been linked with several English top flight clubs for a number of months and earlier this month Portuguese outlet Record claimed that the Hammers and Wolves had joined the race for his services.
O Jogo, meanwhile, claimed on Wednesday afternoon that Norwich City and Galatasaray were prepared to offer Samaris a three-year deal to double what he was earning with Benfica, while Newcastle United were linked with him in January (The Telegraph).

Dynamo Moscow and Getafe were also linked with Samaris, who has made 26 appearances this season for his club and featured in both legs of Benfica’s Europa League quarter-final exit to Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as winning 35 caps with Greece.
The 29-year-old has won three league titles during a successful five-year stint in Portugal, after previously playing for Olympiacos and Panionios in his homeland, and Benfica are two points clear of Porto going into their final league matchday.
