West Ham are pushing hard to wrap up the signature of Lazio forward Felipe Anderson.
The Mirror report the Hammers are negotiating a £27 million move for the Brazilian attacker.
Landing him will be quite a coup following interest from Manchester United a couple of summers back – and there are a couple of lofty comparisons which catch the eye.
Anderson has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by two different managers during his time in Serie A.
The first was by opposition boss Sinisa Mihaijlovic after he led Lazio to a win over his Sampdoria.
ESPN quoted: “Felipe Anderson played like Cristiano Ronaldo.”
He was not the only one, with his ex-Lazio boss Stefano Pioli making the comparison too.
He said: “If he carries on playing with the same humility, he can become unmarkable like Ronaldo.”
Felipe Anderson has not quite taken the next step in his career yet, struggling for consistency.
He scored eight goals and provided 10 assists this past season in 32 games.
If West Ham can get him performing at the level which earned the high level comparisons to a multiple Ballon d’Or winner, then the transfer will look like a stroke of genius.
