West Ham United have recently been linked with a potential summer move for Uruguayan midfield talent Diego Laxalt.
TMW recently reported that the 24-year-old Genoa forward was a target for both West Ham and Fiorentina.
The news was exciting, considering Laxalt has consistently been compared to former Uruguay and Inter Milan superstar Alvaro Recoba.
But the player, who has one cap for the Uruguayan national team, feels he is more like a Dutch legend.
Back in 2013, when Laxalt made a move to Inter, he made it clear that Edgar Davids is a more accurate comparison. He told Football Italia that he liked to do both the attacking and defensive work for his team:
“I don’t know why, we play in two completely different roles.
“I like the defensive and offensive phase, I run a lot and I always give my all. I think I’m a bit similar to Edgar Davids.”

Perhaps it is because he tends to play in a similar position, is the same nationality and also a left-footed player but Laxalt has always been compared to Recoba throughout his career – despite his assertion he is more similar to the combative former Netherlands icon.
If he is as half as good as either player, then West Ham fans will be happy to have him on board.
