According to The Times, Gabriel has completed a medical with Arsenal, and has been offered a five-year contract by the North London outfit.
The report has added that the Gunners have agreed on a £27 million transfer fee with Lille over the transfer of the 22-year-old left-footed central defender, described by Lille owner Gerard Lopez as “an absolute machine” on Sky Sports in April 2020.
Gianlucadimarzio.com has also claimed that the Gunners are favourites to sign the Brazilian, but it has been added that their Premier League rivals United have joined the race.
It has been further claimed that Gabriel has asked for some time to decide his future, and that he would like to make a final decision in the next 48 hours.
Worry for Arsenal?
While it did seem that Arsenal were on the verge of signing Gabriel, United’s late entry into the race appears to have complicated things.
The Red Devils will play in the Champions League next season and will be also be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title, while the Gunners will feature in the Europa League in 2020-21.
