Marcelo Bielsa’s Championship outfit Leeds United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to bring Motherwell winger Stuart McKinstry to Elland Road.

Stuart McKinstry could soon become Leeds United’s first signing of the summer.

The highly-rated winger has been tipped to make the switch to Elland Road since The Scottish Sun reported in February that Leeds had beaten Premier League outfit Southampton to the signature of the Motherwell starlet.

The report added that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were set to pay £150,000 up front with bonuses to be paid if the teenager forced his way into the first-team in West Yorkshire. He could eventually cost £400,000.

In the last two months, nothing has been made official but it seems only a matter of time.

On Thursday, Elliot Fillingham, an intermediary of the BaseSoccer agency who represents McKinstry, uploaded a photo of himself visiting Leeds’ academy on Twitter. The fact that McKinstry ‘liked’ the post will only further the speculation that he is set to become the latest young talent recruited during the reign of director of football Victor Orta.

McKinstry is not the only talented Motherwell winger tipped to leave Fir Park this summer with Jake Hastie also attracting plenty of interest as his contract runs down.
