Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be pursuing Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Tottenham Hotspur are claimed to be eyeing up a shock move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish.
Their task might have just got a lot easier, and cheaper, with Villa appearing to be in dire financial straits.

Sky News report Villa have missed a tax payment and face the potential threat of a winding up order.
A bid of half their demands could see Villa cash in, and if Tottenham really wanted Grealish, then chairman Daniel Levy would be rubbing his hands together.
The questions Spurs need to ask are whether they need Grealish, or if they should concentrate on trying to develop his Villa teammate from last season, Josh Onomah.

Onomah was a key part of England’s under-20 World Cup winning side last summer along with Kyle Walker-Peters, and he spent last season out on loan in the Championship with Villa.
Comparing the seasons of both players, there is not a lot to choose between Grealish and Onomah.
| Goals | Assist | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Josh Onomah | 4 | 3 | 1,873 |
| Jack Grealish | 3 | 6 | 2,128 |
Grealish played 200 more minutes than Onomah, but scored one fewer goal.
He did manage to provide three more assist, to his credit, but there is not really enough of a distance between the two for Tottenham to justify a huge spend on Grealish.
Their chances of landing the Villa midfielder are certainly smoothing. Onomah though might be their better option, and save them spending even a penny.
