AC Milan lost 3-2 against Serie A rivals Inter on Sunday – and Suso’s display is a red flag for Premier League suitors Tottenham Hotspur.
A week or so ago, Tuttomercatoweb reported that AC Milan were open to cashing in on the Spanish international winger Suso.
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have both expressed an interest in signing the one-time Liverpool youngster, who failed to make the grade at Anfield and joined Milan four years ago. The Mirror report that the North London giants are willing to trigger his £35 million release clause.
But why are the Rossoneri willing to sell? On paper, Suso has been one of their brightest sparks over the last few seasons.
Well, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the 25-year-old wants a new contract at the San Siro complete with a £2 million-a-year pay rise. Milan, however, feel that Suso does not deserve an improved deal – and on Sunday’s evidence they might have a point.
The winger is capable of wonderful things but he produced one of his most frustrating, hair-pulling performances during the 3-2 derby defeat to Inter Milan at the weekend. Suso did produce one wicked cross to set up Matteo Musacchio’s consolation but his display will be remembered for a series of dreadful deliveries.
He was jeered by his own supporters on numerous occasions, particularly when failing to control a simple pass in the centre of the park. A red flag, then, for Tottenham.
This is a wonderful player on his day but Suso continues to disappoint far too often.
