Tottenham Hotspur players, by-and-large, had brilliant World Cups.
Cristian Romero returns as a champion, Hugo Lloris led his side to another final, Harry Kane levelled the England goalscoring record, while Richarlison proved his talents on the biggest of stages.
While Tottenham’s players had a brilliant tournament, some of their reported transfer targets didn’t have the best of times.
Indeed, Lautaro Martinez had a torrid time in front of goal – despite winning the tournament, Jonathan David did next to nothing for Canada, while Yannick Carrasco was shocking for Belgium.
In fact, Carrasco’s poor showings for the Red Devils earned him a place in Lequipe’s Worst Team of the Tournament.
While some of the inclusions in this team, such as Matty Cash and Piotr Zielinski, could be perceived as harsh, it has to be said that Carrasco has more than earned his spot here.
The Belgian was woeful in Qatar, he played with no confidence at all in a position he didn’t seem comfortable in as his side crashed out in the Group Stages.

This was the last chance for this so-called ‘golden generation’ to win this competition, but due to players like Carrasco underperforming, the European outfit failed to get out of the starting blocks.
Carrasco has, of course, been linked to Tottenham as of late, but it’s difficult now to see how he’ll get a move to north London after a regrettable outing in Qatar.
On a stage where certain players can earn themselves career-changing transfer moves, Carrasco may have just played himself out of the chance to come to the Premier League.
Simply put, this World Cup was a disaster for Belgium and Carrasco.
