Could Tottenham Hotspur bid for the goal-scoring 23-year-old?

Earlier this week, Diario Madridista claimed Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz, with the fringe player said to be keen to work with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, and now Marca has published the player’s asking price.
If Tottenham want to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old, they will have to pay £13.1million, and when you consider their need for additional fire power and the striker’s undeniable talent, that seems a decent price.
The caveat is Real want a buyback clause, which is no surprise when you consider that is almost par for the course when it comes to top Spanish clubs these days.
The problem for Tottenham is that if they sign Diaz and he is a flop, they have wasted their money, but if he succeeds he would potentially move back to Real just as Alavaro Morata did after two seasons at Juventus.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham will push for this deal, yet when you consider the player’s scoring record he would surely be worth a punt for that sort of money, even if Tottenham ultimately lost him back to the Bernabeu.
Diaz has scored five goals in 14 first-team appearances for Real, while he has found the net 32 times in 43 matches for their B team.

He clearly knows where the goal is and if he is keen on a move to Tottenham it is a move Pochettino should investigate.
After all, prolific forwards are not easy to come by and certainly not ones who want to join a specific club.
It could all be paper talk, but with Tottenham needing another striker and Diaz needing a club where he can feature more regularly, it seems a no-brainer.
