Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Monaco defender.

In comments published by French newspaper L’Equipe, AS Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe has been speaking about his future amid interest from North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Spurs are said to be considering the 24-year-old if Kyle Walker completes a big-money move to Manchester City this summer, and Sidibe has not exactly closed the door on a move elsewhere.

“There will be some time for reflection,” Sidibe told L’Equipe. “I’m pretty open but I’m under contract with Monaco and it would not bother me to do one more season.

“My criteria is how much I play, the framework for my progress and what increases my chances of settling in the French national squad.”

With a World Cup next summer, Sidibe acknowledges that he will only move on if it does not have a negative impact of his hopes of making the final squad.

But with the same interview publishing previous comments he made about the Premier League, in which he said it was a division that appealed to him, with the top five clubs in England being “seductive” options, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Tottenham could get their man.

Much will depend on the future of Walker, while some Spurs fans feel they have enough in Kieran Trippier and the emerging Kyle Walker-Peters.

However, the truth of the matter is Tottenham need to sign ready-made stars in some key positions as they bid to challenge both domestically and in Europe next season and beyond.
