Will Tottenham Hotspur be able to renew an interest in Anthony Martial next January?
Tottenham Hotspur spent most of the summer transfer window being linked to Anthony Martial.
In the end, the Manchester United attacker, who would’ve joined in a deal to bring Toby Alderweireld to Old Trafford, did not wind up signing for Tottenham.
There would have been more speculation about Martial – valued at £60 million [Daily Express] – moving to North London in January, but is he going to join a foreign club before then?
According to Marca, Spanish side Sevilla have made the French winger their number one target before the transfer window shuts.
This could have implications for the North Londoners because it weakens United’s chances of bringing in Alderweireld during the winter if they do not have Martial to bargain with.
The Belgium centre-back will be contractually allowed to leave Tottenham for £25 million next summer anyway, if he does not sign a contract extension before then.
But Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy might have done business with the Red Devils before then if Martial was still on the table, though he might well be plying his trade in Spain at that stage if rumours are believed.
