Tottenham are reportedly keen on Ajax’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Sun reported last week that Tottenham are eyeing an ambitious £35 million move for the highly-rated Cameroonian goalkeeper and if his comments are anything to go by, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in luck.
Onana said: “There’s good competition and everyone wants to play here (Premier League) but to play you need to get a chance. The Premier League is not for everybody so we will see.
“Now, I am with Ajax and I am happy to be the first-choice goalkeeper. It’s always important for me to move on. I am not going to stay here forever but now I am focused, so let’s keep it this way.”
Spurs are without their World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who is expected to be out for at least the next two months. Onana will undoubtedly be a brilliant signing for Spurs but they are bound to have serious competition from other sides in England and in Europe.

Lloris, soon to be 33, isn’t getting any younger and it would be wise for Tottenham to line up his alternatives. Paulo Gazzaniga has stepped up to the plate in recent games but he isn’t really the man if Spurs want to get anywhere near the Premier League crown.
It is highly unlikely that Ajax will let one of their stars leave mid-season and Spurs might have to wait till the summer to get their hands on the 23-year-old. However, the prospect of playing in England is huge for any player in the world and with the right amount of money on the table, Pochettino could have a new number one by February.
