Mauricio Pochettino is yet to secure a direct alternative to Harry Kane.
Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato has posted a message on Instagram which could be seen as dampening speculation regarding a possible move to Tottenham.
The picture is of the former Milan man in the Sao Paulo kit with the words:
“Let this be our destiny: to love, to live and get together every day!!! #togetherwearestronger”
They hardly appear to be the words of a player soon to depart his club and it may come as a blow to Spurs fans hoping their side might seal a cut-price deal for someone who was once considered one of Europe’s most promising strikers.
Pato burst onto the scene with Milan in 2008 but found his progress halted by a succession of injuries and has since returned to form in his native Brazil.
A fall out with parent club Corinthians has seen the 25-year old move on loan to Sao Paulo and issues with third-party ownership would make a deal tricky to complete for Spurs.
Globoesporte had reported that Pato’s agent was in London over the weekend to try to secure a deal for his client however, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs can get a deal over the line.
