West Ham United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs liked with Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer transfer widow.
Xherdan Shaqiri is too good to play in the Championship, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham United all have been linked with the Stoke City winger.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have made an enquiry to Stoke regarding the transfer of Shaqiri, who is reported to have a £12 million relegation release clause in his contract.
The report has also credited Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace with interest in the 26-year-old Switzerland international winger, who earns £65,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com.
The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger has made it clear that he will leave Stoke, who will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
“It is no secret that I will leave the club,” Shaqiri told Aargauer Zeitung, as translated by Goal.com. “I think the [English] league is perfect for me.
“I would love to stay in England but I don’t want to rule anything out. It’s the best league with the best players.”
Need to act fast
Shaqiri would be a success at Tottenham, West Ham or Everton, but they need to act fast and make moves.
The Stoke star’s aforementioned comments make it clear that he would love to remain in the Premier League, and playing for Spurs, the Hammers or the Toffees would be a step-up for the 26-year-old.
Perhaps Tottenham have an advantage, as they are in the Champions League and will also be competing for the Premier League title next season.
