Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to securing the signature of Spain’s highly-rated talent Dani Olmo.

One thing that Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino and his supporters have been craving in recent years is competition within his team.

And with Spurs set to be busy in the summer transfer window, certain individuals, who were perhaps shoe-ins for a starting birth previously, might not be anymore.

Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte have claimed that Tottenham are about to agree on a £22.5 million fee with Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb for their star attacker Dani Olmo, who netted 12 goals last season.

The versatile attacker, who can play out wide and through the middle, recently represented Spain at the U21 European Championships where he caught the eye of many people.

It isn’t a surprise a manager like Pochettino is seemingly keen on him, but Olmo’s potential arrival would put pressure on Dele Alli.

Towards the back end of the previous Premier League campaign, Alli admitted that the season had been a bit of a ‘learning’ curve for him [Telegraph] as his threat in the attacking third dried up.

Alli, who is usually known for his late runs into the penalty box, scored five Premier League goals last term – a significant drop in form compared to what he has produced in recent seasons.

If Olmo does arrive then a player of his calibre won’t be far off Pochettino’s starting XI and he’ll give the Englishmen the kick he needs to keep his place in the starting XI.

There’s no doubt that Olmo would put pressure on Alli, but that is perhaps what he needs as Spurs aim to lift some silverware next season.
