James Maddison is one of the best young players in the Premier League, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are reportedly interested in the Leicester City attacking midfielder.

According to The London Evening Standard, Tottenham and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in Maddison.

The report has also claimed that Manchester United and Manchester City are looking at the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

Maddison – who cost Leicester £22.5 million in transfer fees in the summer of 2018, as reported by The London Evening Standard – has responded to speculation on his future, and the youngster’s comments will encourage Spurs and Liverpool because they are very mature.

Maddison told Sky Sports when asked if speculation on his future is on his mind: “No, you have just got to ignore that and take it all in your stride.

“As a 17 year-old boy I’d started five games for Coventry and saw on my phone that I was being linked with Tottenham and Liverpool.

“With transfer talk you need to take it as a compliment that people are even talking about you, it won’t distract me.”

Mature comments

Maddison’s aforementioned comments show just how mature the attacking midfielder is at the tender age of 22.

It is clear that the Englishman is focused on his football and is not being affected by speculation on his future.

According to WhoScored, Maddison made 35 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Leicester this past season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in the process.
