Premier League duo Spurs and Newcastle United are both reportedly interested in the unstoppable Serie A goal-scoring force Krzystof Piatek

Krzsysztof Piatek of Genoa celebrate after 3-0 during the Coppa Italia match between Genoa CFC and Lecce at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on August 11, 2018 in Genoa, Italy.

Listening to Krzyztof Piatek speak, it is quickly apparent why he has been such a hit in his debut Serie A season.

The Genoa talisman is a man not just hungry for goals but absolutely ravenous, a natural-born poacher who looks every inch a striker capable of following in the footsteps of his fellow Poland international Robert Lewandowski.

Since moving to Genoa from Cracovia for a bargain £3 million, he has scored 17 goals in 17 games in all competitions, including 11 in 15 Serie A games.

No wonder Piatek has caught the eye of clubs from around Europe. The Northern Echo reported that Newcastle United identified the 23-year-old as an ambitious January target while Tottenham Hotspur are keen too, according to TEAMtalk.

And, speaking to Secolo XIX, Piatek has made it clear that he’s not looking to take things easy after an outstanding start to life in Italy. He has the Golden Boot in his sights and has issued a bullish warning to Juventus superhero Cristiano Ronaldo and Lazio’s Ciro Immobile.

Krzysztof Piatek of Poland, celebrate his goal the 1-0 during the UEFA Nations league match between Poland v Portugal at the Slaski Stadium on October 11, 2018 in Chorzow

“I am happy, I concentrate on scoring in every match. I want to be top scorer at the end of the season, not just now. I have to believe in this, I am an attacker,” Piatek said.

“To be a footballer you have to trust yourself and think you can get as high as possible. I want to beat Ronaldo and Immobile.”

As it stands, Piatek is on track. With 11 goals to his name, the prolific Pole is one ahead of Ronaldo and Immobile while also leaving Mauro Icardi, Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain choking on his dust.
