Rangers and Celtic both reportedly want to bring Tomas Kalas to the Scottish Premiership, the defender shining on loan at Bristol City from Chelsea.

Rangers will have to make Tomas Kalas their biggest signing in 14 years. But he could be worth every single penny.
According to The Sun, the Czech Republic international has emerged as a target for Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic. The Glasgow giants have both sent scouts to watch Kalas in action for Bristol City, the defender starring on loan for a club who have their eye on securing a Championship play-off place.
But how much would Kalas cost? Parent club Chelsea don’t often sell on the cheap and The Sun claims that they will demand £5 million for a player who has hardly come close to a first-team place in almost seven years at Stamford Bridge.
Such a fee would make Kalas Rangers’ most expensive signing since Barry Ferguson made an emotional return to Ibrox from Blackburn Rovers all the way back in 2005.

But it is not often that a player with the calibre of Kalas, a centre-back who would arguably be the best anywhere in Scotland, is within Rangers’ grasp.
The 18-time international should stand out in Scotland and enhance a Rangers defence that has too often looked shaky this season. And he would be worth a lot more than £5 million if he helped bring an end to Celtic’s reign.
