Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to bring Bergwijn to the Premier League from Eredivisie champions PSV – Liverpool’s star sets the bar high.

Everyone in the Premier League will be wishing they had their own Mo Salah.

The affable Egyptian has been one of the most inspired Premier League signings of the last decade, scoring 49 goals in 67 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The statistics only tell half the story, however.

Salah is the smiling face of this ‘new Liverpool’ – an exciting and endearingly watchable side who have gone from perpetual nearly men and underachievers into a team with genuine Premier League and European ambitions.

But could Tottenham replicate the success of Salah as they too look to sign a thrilling winger with dazzling footwork that would give Lionel Messi a run for his money?

According to De Telegraaf, Spurs are hoping to raid PSV Eindhoven for Steven Bergwijn in the summer with the Dutchman apparently available for an affordable £30 million. At the age of 21, Bergwijn is five years younger than Salah and remains a raw talent. Comparisons with Memphis Depay will inevitably be drawn.

But anyone who has watched the Eredivisie this season will tell you that Bergwijn could soon be one of Europe’s most exciting attackers. He has 12 goals and 13 assists this season, leaving defenders all across the country red-faced with his ability to ghost past opponents with ease.

Pace, power and improving end product – Bergwijn has it all. Salah has set the gold standard but there’s no reason to believe Bergwijn couldn’t have a similar impact in North London.
