Aston Villa have had a very strong summer transfer window as they could yet conclude more deals before the window slams shut.
Aston Villa have had one of the most entertaining and drama-filled transfer windows in recent times as they have signed 12 players and spent a lot of that Premier League pot!
It isn’t a surprise that Dean Smith’s side have pushed so many players inside the doors of Bodymoor Heath because they were needed once the dust had settled after that Championship play-off final win against Derby County.
Their most recent signing is Club Brugge midfielder Marvellous Nakamba, who is the second midfielder to sign for the club this summer behind Douglas Luiz. But it seems as though another could be heading to the Midlands.
TalkSport recently claimed that Villa are one of a number of clubs keen on Maritimo midfielder Josip Vukovic, who has his heart set on moving to England amid the interest.
Simply put, if Villa do push through for a deal for the 27-year-old it would be perplexing because he simply isn’t needed by Smith.
Added with the two new captures, Villa have John McGinn, Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason at their disposal.
Some are, of course, more attack-minded players, whilst others can provide that attacking intent by playing that little deeper, but either way Vukovic isn’t needed.
If anything, perhaps another striker and another winger is needed before the window slams shut on Thursday.
Either way, it has been a pretty strong transfer window by Villa and Smith, and he should be pretty pleased with what he has in the middle of the park.
