Following the departure of Kieran Trippier, Tottenham Hotspur are now light in the right-back area ahead of the new Premier League season.

Tottenham Hotspur have already lost one right-back this summer in Kieran Trippier, and it seems as though if they lose another in Serge Aurier then they will dip into the transfer market.
At this moment, Aurier himself, youngster Kyle Walker-Peters and even Juan Foyth can deploy that right-back role for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that if Aurier is sold then Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj or Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi could replace Aurier at the back for Spurs.
From the two reported targets, the versatile and more experienced Florenzi would be the better option for Mauricio Pochettino and he would arguably be an upgrade on Aurier.
If another right-back departs then that’ll leave Tottenham very light in that area, with two youngsters in Walker-Peters and Foyth fighting for that spot.

Therefore, experience would be needed, a player with a cool head and someone who has vasts amounts of experience in Europe – Florenzi has that in abundance.
He has been a long-serving player for Roma, who has the ability to play in either full-back role, in midfield or further up the flanks, if need be.
Florenzi has great technical ability and his style would suit Mauricio Pochettino. Plus, compared with Aurier, he would be less erratic on the ball and off the ball.
Since Aurier’s £23 million move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 [BBC Sport], he hasn’t been able to cement himself into Tottenham’s starting XI, with the Ivory Coast international being a little error-prone.
