Che Adams’s 22 Championship goals for Birmingham City could pave the way for a move to the Premier League with Southampton.

Southampton have seen a £14 million bid for Che Adams rejected by Birmingham City, according to Sky Sports – but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side should have absolutely no qualms about paying just £2 million more for a player who could transform their dawdling forward line.
The Saints have struggled for a ruthless edge since the heady days of Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle and, even with the famously free-spirited Hasenhuttl at the helm, goals have been in short supply.
Shane Long remains hard-working yet extremely erratic, Danny Ings’s impact dwindled as the season went on while Charlie Austin simply doesn’t appear to be the former RB Leipzig’s boss’s cup of tea.
Adams, however, certainly is.
Hasenhuttl loves working with speedy young forwards who can play in a variety of attacking positions and, with that in mind, winger-turned-striker Adams must remind the Austrian of his former Leipzig talisman Timo Werner.

The one-time Sheffield United starlet plundered 22 goals in a career-best season for Birmingham in 2018/19 and, despite The Blues’ well documented financial issues, they don’t want to sell their top scorer.
That is why they have rejected a bid that, with add ons and bonuses, reached £14 million. But with just £2 million more seemingly required to tempt Birmingham into a sale, there is very little stopping Southampton.
