Everton and Southampton target Vincent Angelini has told Celtic that he will leave the club during the summer transfer window when his contract expires, as reported by Il Mianista.

Has the exodus begun?

Olivier Ntcham’s controversial move to Marseille might not have bothered the Celtic faithful all that much, given that the Frenchman has been a shadow of his sublime self over the last 18 months. But the former Manchester City youngster’s departure felt like an ‘opening the floodgates’ sort of moment.

Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard will be free agents in 2022 and Celtic know, deep down, that they must be sold sooner rather than later.

Jeremie Frimpong, meanwhile, will now be looking to showcase his swashbuckling speed at Bayer Leverkusen; a club renowned for their rampaging wing-play.

So, with concerns surrounding the futures of some of Celtic’s most high-profile first-team stars, the impending departure of a teenage goalkeeper might have gone under the radar.

It looks increasingly likely that Angelini will be following in the footsteps of Barry Hepburn, Liam Morrison and Cameron Harper, departing the Glasgow giants before he has even made a first-team breakthrough.

TMW reported last week that Premier League trio Southampton, Everton and Manchester United are watching closely.

Angelini has now allegedly told Celtic that he will not be extending a contract which expires in July. AC Milan have joined the race, identifying the Scottish-born ‘stopper as a protégé capable of learning from Gigi Donnarumma at the San Siro.

Donnarumma’s future is also shrouded in mystery. But, according to Il Mianista, Milan want Angelini regardless of whether their homegrown number one stays or goes.
