Rangers won’t be seeing Uche Ikpeazu at Ibrox on Wednesday night.
Rangers host Hearts at Ibrox on Wednesday night, and a fascinating transfer rumour has materialised ahead of the game.
According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu, who has impressed in his first season with the club.
Ikpeazu is allegedly valued at around £1million, and has attracted interest from both Celtic and Rangers, as well as Cardiff City and Hull City.
The 24-year-old is an absolute battering ram, standing at 6ft 3in tall whilst possessing great strength and a decent turn of pace.
Ikpeazu has been a real pain to defend against when fit this season, and could be an intriguing signing for either Old Firm side despite him scoring just six times in 20 games this season.
With Steven Gerrard seemingly keen to lure the former Cambridge City man to Ibrox, Wednesday’s meeting between Rangers and Hearts could have been an ideal time to get another look at the burly front man.
However, Hearts boss Craig Levein has now confirmed to the Daily Record that Ikpeazu will miss the game completely, as he suffered a head injury against Aberdeen on Saturday.
Gerrard and the Rangers recruitment team appear to have seen enough from Ikpeazu anyway to think about a summer deal, but the player himself won’t have a chance to impress Gerrard in front of his eyes tomorrow night – something Hearts may be thankful.
