With Napoli misfit Arkadiusz Milik at risk of losing his place in Poland’s plans ahead of Euro 2020, Jakub Swierczok must be sensing an opportunity.

The Piast Gliwice striker only has three international caps on his CV but, with Milik now persona non grata at the Stadio San Paolo, there may be an opening in Jerzy Brzeczek’s plans with just a few months until the tournament gets under way.

And Swierczok’s outstanding displays at club level have given his hopes of a seat on the plane, alongside Robert Lewandowski, Lukasz Fabianski and co, an almighty – and rather timely – boost.

The Ludogorets loanee is in stunning form and, against Zaglebie on Sunday, scored with a wonderous long-range strike reminiscent of Kemar Roofe’s moment of magic in the Europa League recently.

In fact, even the Rangers hotshot himself can’t match Swierczok’s current streak. He has now scored in each of his last four games, winning the Ekstraklasa player of the month award as a result.

According to Bulgarian publication Newonce, Swierczok could be joining Roofe at Rangers in the near future.

Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow giants are already putting plans in place ahead of the 2021 summer transfer window. And, with the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe uncertain, Rangers are mulling over the idea of bringing in Swierczok to boost their forward line.

More goals like his 40-yard wonder strike against Zagliebie will do Swierczok’s chances of a move to Ibrox, or a place in Poland’s Euros squad, no harm at all.
