Rangers have been linked with a stunning move for Colombian star Rafael Santos Borre this summer when his River Plate contract comes to an end – but a move for the striker would cost the Light Blues in excess of £15million, according to one journalist.

Nicolo Schira reports that any move for the striker would see potential suitors, including Rangers, having to shell out over £40,000 per week for the next four years as well as almost £5million in a signing on fee

That would see his total, basic, contract amount to just over £15million without taking any bonuses into account – although it would undoubtedly be a much cheaper deal than if he was to be bought by Rangers on the transfer market.

While the likelihood of Santos Borre arriving at Ibrox this summer were slim to begin with, it seems even more unlikely based on his financial demands.

Given the strength of the Rangers forward line, such a hefty spend would seem a bit out of place anyway for the Light Blues.

Unless there was to be a big sale – such as Alfredo Morelos’ rumoured move to Porto – any move with such a financial outlay is unlikely to happen.

Things could still change but it seems that, for now at least, there’s only going to be one Colombian striker at Ibrox.
