Feyenoord have made it clear that reported Rangers and Wolves target Crysencio Summerville will be training with the reserves after rejecting a new contract, technical director Frank Arnesen tells Sport Nieuws.
The teen sensation returned to this summer De Kuip with the intention of forcing his way into Dick Advocaat’s starting XI after impressive on loan at ADO Den Haag last season.
So you can understand his disappointment when it became clear that he was well down the Feyenoord pecking order instead.
According to Voetbal International, Summerville has now rejected the chance to extend a contract which expires in 2021.
He is not short of alternative offers either. Rangers are interested while Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a £1 million-plus bid for his services.
“We had given him a deadline until Sunday (to sign a new deal),” says Arnesen. “There was no response. From now, on he trains with the under-21s.”
Wolves have snapped up two of Dutch football’s most exciting teenagers since the turn of the year, luring Nigel Lonwijk and Justin Hubner to Molineux from PSV Eindhoven and Den Bosch respectively.
But, with Daniel Podence, Adama Traore and Diogo Jota all shining in Old Gold, Summerville surely knows that first-team football would more than likely be out of his reach at Wolves too.
So, if the jet-heeled youngster wants to prove himself in the men’s game, Ibrox would be the most sensible destination.
Especially when you consider that neither Jordan Jones nor Brandon Barker have done enough to show Steven Gerrard that they can be relied upon in Rangers colours.
