Bolton Wanderers starlet Luca Connell has admitted to the Irish Independent that he has tasked his agent with sorting out a potential summer move as he continues to be linked with the likes of Rangers and Leeds United.

The 18-year-old was a rare bright spark in a dismal 2018/19 for Bolton, who were relegated from the Championship and will start next season in League One with a 12-point deduction after falling into administration.

Connell is expected to leave the Macron Stadium this summer despite Phil Parkinson’s side extending his contract by 12 months this week.

According to The Mail, Rangers and Norwich City are leading the chase with Southampton and Preston North End keen too. The Sun (12 May, page 59) claims that Leeds are keen too and see Connell as a ‘star for the future’.

And the teenager himself has hinted that he might have already played his last game for Bolton, though he appears to have no idea where he’ll be plying his trade next season.

“I don’t know (where I will end up),” Connell said. “I’m leaving that down to my agent. Hopefully he’s sorting that out while I’m away, seeing what’s about and what he thinks is best for me.”

Connell was handed his first ever call up by the Republic of Ireland this month after featuring in 10 Championship games last season.
