Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United’s reported quest to sign Robin Koch seems to have met with a problem.
In demand
The Daily Star reported in April that Leeds want to sign central defender Koch from Freiburg in the summer transfer window.
The report also claimed of interest in the 23-year-old from Tottenham, West Ham United and Norwich City.
Need for a centre-back
The Germany international is a promising young centre-back, and it does not come as a surprise that both Spurs and Leeds are interested in him.
While Spurs will need to sign a new centre-back this summer as Jan Vertonghen is out of contract at the end of the season, Leeds may need to delve into the market for a defender if they are unable to keep Ben White beyond the summer, with the youngster scheduled to return to his parent club Brighton and Hove Albion when his loan spell runs out.
However, it seems that Spurs and Leeds will have work to do if they are to convince Koch to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or Elland Road.
Problem
Sport1 has reported of Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back, but it has been claimed that the 23-year-old wants to continue to play in Germany.
The youngster has been in Germany his entire professional club football career so far, and since the Bundesliga is such a good domestic league, one can understand why he reportedly wants to stay in his homeland.
