According to TMW, AS Monaco are interested in signing Lucas Torreira from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The Italian news outlet has reported that Monaco have offered the Arsenal-owned midfielder a three-year contract.

Talks are going on, and the offer seems to have convinced both the 24-year-old and Arsenal, according to the report, which has added that Inter Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina are also monitoring the situation of the Uruguay international.

La Nazione, as relayed by The Express, has reported that Fiorentina have made a ‘take it or leave it’ offer to Arsenal.

Leaving Arsenal for good

The fact that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta decided to let Torreira leave on loan for Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020 shows that the Spaniard does not think that the 24-year-old can be a success in his team.

The midfielder – who joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £26 million – has failed to make a huge impact at Atletico, starting just twice in La Liga so far this season, according to WhoScored.

It would make sense for the midfielder to move to Monaco if he gets the chance to play regular first-team football.
