Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keen on signing the Besiktas defender.
According to a report from Turkish media outlet Sabah, Wolves are interested in signing Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida, but is the Croatian the type of defender Nuno Espirito Santo should be targeting?
The 29-year-old centre-back really shone at the World Cup in Russia this summer, showcasing his very own unique brand of uncompromising defending throughout the tournament.
Vida’s ball dispersion skills are questionable, however, and with Nuno’s insistence on his team playing out from the back, that could prove to be a major problem.
According to a report from the Sun, Besiktas will not entertain any offers below £25 million for the centre-back, and considering the fact that he will be 30 next year, that will be an expensive risk for Wolves to take.
Nuno likes his central defenders to be comfortable in possession, and Vida is far from that.
He is an absolute warrior, that cannot be questioned, but he struggles with the ball at his feet, and he could very well be a weak-link for Wolves, if Nuno does in fact bring him to Molineux this summer.
There are plenty of clubs in England who would benefit from having the World Cup finalist amongst their ranks, but Wolves are quite simply not one of them.
