Rangers must hope Bordeaux keep hold of Francois Kamano.

Francois Kamano of Bordeaux scores a goal during the Europa League play off second leg between Grondins de Bordeaux and KAA Gent on August 30, 2018 in Bordeaux, France.

The form of Francois Kamano at Bordeaux has attracted the attention of Newcastle in recent weeks [via Chronicle]. Rangers need to hope they are unsuccessful in attempts to sign him.

An exit for Kamano could see Bordeaux return for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, who bid for the Colombian in the summer, BBC Sport reported.

Rangers knocked that fee back and warned the French side off a deal.

Bordeaux’s striker additions in the summer were basement level additions.

They signed veteran Jimmy Briand as a free agent and loaned former Cardiff flop Andreas Cornelius. Both players have scored four goals combined between them.

Kamano on the other hand has been a revelation.

He has scored eight goals- five more than his nearest teammate.

It is understandable Newcastle are interested in the exciting 22-year-old.

Kamano is more of a winger than a striker, but his exit would leave Bordeaux with a big hole to fill.

The most logical way to fill his goal return is to sign a striker, and this could see the French side revisit interest in Rangers’ Morelos.

Potentially armed with funds from a Kamano sale to add to the money acquired from selling Malcom in the summer, they would have the financial power to meet Rangers’ demands.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has maintained he does not want to sell the striker, and could be in for a battle with the board if a huge offer comes their way.
