Reported Newcastle target Niklas Sule is now keen on a move to the Premier League, with the defender’s contract set to expire next summer.

According to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, the 26-year-old centre-back has held talks with Newcastle over the past few weeks. Moreover, Sule is said to be ‘interested’ in a move to the Magpies.

Sule earns a reported wage of £52,000-a-week at Bayern, meaning that the defender could be a reasonable big-name signing for Newcastle. The centre-back has been a regular for the Bundesliga giants this season.

Yet despite starting often for Julian Nagelsmann’s side, Sule is looking increasingly likely to leave the Bavarian giants in 2022, and Newcastle now look like the favourites to sign the German international.

Indeed, whilst the defender remains highly-rated in Germany, all signs seem to point towards Sule leaving Bayern at the end of this season. Since signing for the club in 2018, the defender is yet to pen a new contract.

Whilst there have been rumours that Nagelsmann wants to keep the former Hoffenheim star at the club, it seems like Sule is eyeing a new adventure in football, and Newcastle could be that destination.

Sule can transform Newcastle’s defence overnight

Centre-back is a position that is in desperate need of improvements. With Newcastle yet to keep a clean sheet at all this season, and Sule could be a player who changes the Toon’s defensive fortunes around.

At 6’4”, Sule is a titan of a centre-back as well as a player with plenty of athleticism and pace. The defender has filled in right-back on some occasions for Bayern. And this versatility could be crucial for any future Newcastle manager.
