Inter Milan’s Serie A star Mauro Icardi reportedly wants to move to the Premier League – is he what Liverpool need?

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is keen to join any of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ this summer, according to 90Min, and this could play right into the hands of Liverpool.
Last season was a miserable one for Icardi. The Argentine superstar ended the campaign with 12 less goals than he produced the in 2017/18 campaign with injuries and an unseemly row with the Inter chiefs seeing him ostracised from Luciano Spaletti’s first-team plans.
Icardi was stripped of the captaincy, became something of a scapegoat among the Inter ultras and, with new coach Antonio Conte hoping to bring in Romelu Lukaku, it seems very unlikely that the one-time Barcelona starlet will be at the San Siro by the time next season kicks off.
But where next for one of world football’s most natural goalscorers?
According to 90Min, Icardi is open to a move to one of England’s so-called ‘big six’ – though Manchester giants United and City have apparently been put off by the idea of working with his outspoken wife and agent Wanda Nara.

Though with Liverpool crying out for a centre-forward like Icardi, could they be tempted to rescue a genuinely world class striker from his San Siro nightmare?
Icardi is one of the few attackers on the market capable of taking a star-studded Liverpool to the next level. He’d provide Jurgen Klopp with a completely different option in attack, a natural-born goalscoring talent who comes alive in the penalty box and makes tap-ins look easy.
The Reds lacked real star quality in reserve last season but Icardi would give Klopp the chance to rotate his attack and ensure that, whoever plays, Liverpool remain a fearless prospect.
