Liverpool: Ruddy and unforced errors – Reason to worry?

Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy is apparently of interest to Liverpool in the January transfer window, but the stats are worrying.

Simon Mignolet’s consistent poor form for Liverpool has left the club searching for a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

Mignolet has been at fault for a number of goals over the campaign so far and Brendan Rodgers has apparently lost faith in the Belgian international.

The former Sunderland man was dropped for the Reds’ most recent fixture against Manchester United and he looks set for a long run on the sidelines with Brad Jones jumping ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rodgers is expected to find a solution to this ongoing problem by spending money on a new custodian at the next opportunity, but one of his reported targets may not be the wisest addition, looking at the stats.

Liverpool have been linked with making a move for Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy, but if it is reliability they are looking for they may be better off searching elsewhere.

Ruddy has made more mistakes leading to a goal than any other player in the second tier and having someone in that poor form is the last thing that the Reds need at this present moment.

Ruddy may be a talented ‘keeper on his day, but Liverpool need a proven solid presence behind what looks a nervous backline and the statistics suggest that they will not get this by buying the Canaries man.
