Liverpool have reportedly already made a bid for the Napoli forward.
Napoli ace and alleged long-term Liverpool target Lorenzo Insigne spoke to reporters yesterday, and admitted that he could leave Naples in the summer, if he receives an offer that he cannot refuse, as quoted by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.
The diminutive Italian has been linked with a move to the Reds on numerous occasions over the past few years, with the Sun reporting that the Merseyside outfit actually made a £61 million bid for his services a few months ago – an offer that was subsequently rejected by Napoli.
Insigne, 27, is still under contract with the Serie A outfit until the summer of 2022, and the Sun claims that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis values the attacker at an astonishing £131 million.
Liverpool are in a very strong position financially, although it is highly unlikely that they would be able to stretch to that amount to sign the Italy international.
He has been in fine form this season, chalking up 13 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for Napoli, and he would undoubtedly provide Jürgen Klopp with an entirely different option in the final third.
And Insigne admitted to reporters that he could be tempted to leave Napoli this summer, should he receive an offer that is too good to refuse, as quoted by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport:
“I am 28 years old [this year] and it could happen that I receive an offer I can’t refuse.”
Whether Liverpool will go back in for the Napoli man in the summer, however, remains to be seen.
